Coordinated in partnership with Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group, Cheshire East Council and Healthwatch Cheshire – and clinically delivered by Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP) – the service has gone from strength to strength since its launch in 2021.
The service has hosted over 100 pop up vaccination clinics across East Cheshire since mobilising. Led by feedback from local communities, the partners have coordinated targeted pop-up clinics in areas with low vaccination uptake. Making use of the service’s dedicated vaccination bus and local community sites, over 4000 COVID-19 vaccines have so far been administered in Cheshire East.
CWP associate director of operations for neighbourhoods, Sarah Quinn, said: “On behalf of the Trust, it was fantastic to receive this recognition from David. It is a true testament to the hard work and dedication to all those who were involved in the vaccination programme. The launching of the programme was a daunting prospect but also a challenge that the team rose to magnificently.
“They took the opportunity to be at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19 and they are now using what has been learned to think about delivering services in communities differently. I would like to congratulate them for everything they have achieved so far.”
Councillor Sam Corcoran, leader of Cheshire East Council, said: " Our partnership with CWP and Healthwatch has enabled us to offer accessible vaccination services to our communities across the borough.
"This outreach programme along with the efforts of our GP surgeries and community pharmacies means that Cheshire East residents have amongst the highest levels of COVID vaccination in the country. It is another example of the innovative services being delivered in response to the Covid-19 pandemic."
Building on the success of the roving vaccination service, CWP has now expanded its model to incorporate wider physical health screening activities, such as cholesterol, blood pressure, glucose, BMI and pulse checks. Based on nationally identified targets to address health inequalities, this will improve access to vital healthcare, whilst also helping to reduce pressure on local GPs.

Taking the vaccine directly to residents has been vital in protecting as many people as possible. I very much hope that the organisers of the awards will share my great appreciation for the team’s work, and I am looking forward to seeing their new health and well being project building on their successful work.”
